The Series

Northwest leads the overall series 33-25, but Southern has won 13 of the last 22 games, including the only defeat the Bearcats had all of 2016-17 when they won a National Championship, and two of their four losses last season. Missouri Southern is 18-8 at home against Northwest Missouri, while the Lions are 6-20 in Maryville. Northwest has won all but one of the neutral site games. While many of the games have been close, Northwest's biggest victory margin was 27 points, in the 2006 MIAA Tournament. Southern's most-lopsided win was a 93-67 decision on January 29, 2000.

MIAA Team Stat Leaders

The Lions, as a team, lead the MIAA in three point attempts, defensive rebounds, free throw attempts, free throws made, scoring and total rebounds.

MIAA Individual Stat Leaders

Cam Martin leads the MIAA in field goal percentage, double-double's, free throw attempts and free throws made. Elyjah Clark leads the MIAA in three point attempts, minutes per game and total minutes.

All-MIAA

Four Lions earned All-MIAA status this year as Cam Martin led the way with a first-team selection. Elyjah Clark was a third-team pick, while Kinzer Lambert and Braelon Walker earned honorable mention.

Streak Stopper

Coming into the season Elyjah Clark had made a three pointer in 47-straight games, dating back to his freshman season. Clark, however, missed out on a three in the first game of the year, but has made a three in each game since, taking his current streak to 31.

Cam You Score A Lot?

Cam Martin tied a MSSU single-game record with 49 points at Minnesota State. The mark tied Carl Tyler from 1984. Coincidently, in his second game as a Lion, former guard CJ Carr scored 47 points against the same Minnesota State team two years ago. Martin nearly set the NCAA Tournament scoring record against Washburn as he finished with 46 points, eight off the record of 54.

Cam You Score A Lot II

Cam Martin has put himself amongst the Missouri Southern single-season scoring leaders as the sophmore has become only the second Lion to ever score 700 or more points, joining Taevaunn Prince in that category. He has 700 which is the second most scored in a single-season at MSSU.

Have Yourself A Game Cam

Cam Martin had a game to remember against Washburn in the NCAA Tournament. He tied a Southern single-game record with nine 3's. He scored 46 points, three off his own shared MSSU single-game record and that proved to be 10th-best all-time in a single NCAA Division II Tournament game.

The Century Mark

Jeff Boshcee won his 100th career game at Missouri Southern against Washburn in the NCAA Tournament. He became the quickest to 100 wins in MSSU history. The previous mark was Frank Davis who reached 100 wins in 161 games. Boschee did it in 152 games.

Three-Point Streak

The Lions failed to make a three-pointer at Arkansas Tech in their match-up in 2012-13. It was the first time in 403 games that Southern had failed to hit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999 against Missouri S&T. The Lions have had a three in 205-straight games since Arkansas Tech in 2012-13.

Sharp Shooting Lions

Southern has broken two records this year in regards to three-point shooting as the Lions have destroyed two records that were set by last year's squad. Southern has set the record for single-season three pointers made (351) and three pointers per game (10.9). The 351 three pointers would have set a new MIAA single-season record, breaking the previous mark of 335, but Northwest Missouri has 374 3's this year.

Perfection

The Lions are perfect this season when they do the following: scoring 90 or more points (13-0), out shooting their opponents (20-0), and playing on Tuesday (3-0).

Hard Working Man

Elyjah Clark leads the MIAA in minutes per game and total minutes.

Three's Company

The Lions broke the MSSU single-game 3-point record with 22 3's against Washburn in the NCAA Tournament. It broke the record set against Randall last year as Southern made 20 three pointers against the Saints. The 22 3's was one three-pointer off of the NCAA Tournament record of 23 in a single-game.

Recent History Against The Bearcats

Northwest Missouri has been one of the best Division II programs in the past three years with just five losses over that period, including a National Championship two years ago. Three of those losses, however, have come to the Lions.

Super Tuesday

The Lions are 3-0 on Tuesdays this year and a perfect 9-0 in Jeff Boschee's tenure.

Corndogs Jackie

Southern is averaging 87 points per game this season and the Lions have topped the century mark seven times.

All-Time NCAA Tournament

The Lions are 7-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Southern has won three of its last five games in NCAA Tournament action.

Bevo Francis Award Watchlist

Sophomore Cam Martin has been named to the Small College Basketball Bevo Francis Award Watchlist. The award is for the Division II Player of the Year. He is one of 25 players still left vying for the yearly award.

Record-Breaking Sniper

Junior Elyjah Clark already has the Missouri Southern single-season record for three pointers with 110. Clark broke the career record against Fort Hays State last weekend and has 289 career three pointers now as a junior. With one season left to play, Clark now can target the MIAA record of 370.

Reachin' A Grand

Elyjah Clark went over 1,000 points in his career with 18 points against Minnesota-Crookston in the Puerto Rico Tournament. He currently has 1,399 in his career and is the 22nd person in MSSU history to crack the 1,000 point plateau. Clark has moved into 10th place all-time, passing Terry Shumpert against Washburn. Next up is Matt Olson with 1,404 points 9th place.

Elyjah For Three

Clark has the top-two single-season three-point totals in MSSU history and his 289 threes made in his two-plus year career rank first. His career three-point percentage of .401 is tied for third-best all-time, while he also tied the single-game record for three's made with nine. He has the season and career record for three pointers per game, while also holding the MSSU season and career record for consecutive games with a three (47).
