(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Pittsburg, Kan. -- Adrain Broadus picked up his first career All-American honor as the Missouri Southern men's track and field team competed in day two of the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Broadus picked up a fifth-place finish in the triple jump today as he leaped to a distance of 50-09.15 (15.48m) in his first jump of the afternoon. That distance proved to be enough for fifth place in the event, earning the Lions four points toward the team scores.

Brendan Watkins finished in 14th in the event, picking up a distance of 46-04.75 (14.14m).

In total, the Lions sent three student-athletes to nationals and came away with two All-American honors as Gidieon Kimutai picked up All-American status in the 5k last night.

The Lions finished in 25th in the team standings with nine points.

Southern will now switch right over to outdoor track mode as the Lions will be back in action next week at Emporia State.
