The Missouri Southern baseball team has swept the weekly MIAA awards as Freddie Landers is the Player of the Week and Zach Parish is the Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today.
Landers and Parish helped the Lions to a 3-1 week, including the program's second-straight MIAA series sweep in Fort Hays State.
Landers finished the week with a .562 batting average, a .632 on-base percentage and a 1.062 slugging percentage. He had nine hits, scored seven runs, recorded five RBIs, five doubles and a home run. Against Drury, he had a 1-for-2 performance with a double and two runs scored. In game one against Fort Hays State, Landers went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles and an RBI. He went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored in game two against FHSU.
Parrish picked up a win in his only appearance this week as he went six innings against Fort Hays State. In the game, he struck out 15, walked just two and allowed just three hits and zero earned runs. Parish only allowed two runners to get past second base when he was on the mound.
Landers and the Lions will be back in action this week playing a three-game MIAA series at Northwest Missouri.
