MSSU's Cam Martin named first-team All-MIAA

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Missouri Southern sophomore Cam Martin has been named a first-team All-MIAA selection as announced by the league office today.

This year, Martin leads the MIAA in defensive rebounds, field goal percentage, free throw attempts and free throws made, while ranking second in double-double's and rebounding. He ranks third in scoring and fourth in total points.

Martin ranks in the top ten nationally in four different categories, while ranking in the top-25 in eight different categories. Earlier in the season, he tied the MSSU school record for points in a game with 49 against Minnesota State and has scored in double-figures in every game this season with 17 double-doubles.

Joining Martin on the All-MIAA team was Elyjah Clark, who was named a third-team selection and Kinzer Lambert and Braelon Walker whom both earned honorable mention nods.

Clark became the all-time leading 3-point shooter at Southern this year as the junior now has the single-season and career marks. He has 276 career 3-pointers going into the MIAA Tournament. This year, Clark averaged 15.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 40 percent from the field and making a team-high 80 three-pointers. He led the MIAA in 3-point attempts, while also leading the league in minutes per game, averaging 36 per contest. Clark also went over 1,000 points in his career this season and currently sits at 1,359 points.

Lambert finished second on the team in scoring with 15.2 points per game, while averaging 6.3 rebounds per contest. He shot 44 percent from the field and 39 percent from long-range, while adding 77 assists and 20 blocks. Lambert currently has 940 points in his career at MSSU.

Walker helped spark the Missouri Southern defense this year and shot flashes of offensive superiority late in the season as he has scored in double-figures in six of the last eight games. He had four 20-point outings this year, tying his career-high with 25 points against Emporia State in each game against the Hornets this year. Walker averaged 10.7 points and 3.2 rebounds, while shooting 44 percent from the field, 43 percent from long-range and 78 percent from the free throw line.

Regular-season league champion Northwest Missouri swept the postseason honors as Joey Witthus was named the Player of the Year, Ryan Hawkins was named Defensive Player of the Year, Trevor Hudgins was named Freshman of the Year and Ben McCollum was named Coach of the Year.
