MSSU women's cross country finishes third at Southern Stampede

The Missouri Southern women's cross country team finished third today as the Lions competed in the 30th running of the Missouri Southern Stampede at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin.

Julianna Determan led the way for the Lions as she crossed the line of the 5k course in a time of 17:34.6 to place fourth. Ashley Kuykendall was seventh at 17:44.3, while Kelie Henderson placed 12th in a time of 17:58.2.

Alice Evans was 50th in a time of 18:50.2, while Maegen Derfelt was right behind in 51st with a time of 18:51.7. Janna Hautala placed 61st, while Raye Moran was 75th. Mady Gepford was 87th, while Danielle Prince (96th), Abbi Rogers (112th) and Gabrielle Hill (125th) finish out the Lions' individual scores.








Missouri State won the team title with 100 points, while Cal State East Bay was second with 101 points, while the Lions were third with 106 points. Southwest Baptist was fourth, followed by Pittsburg State, East Central, Minot State, Dallas Baptist, Rockhurst and Washburn to round out the top ten.

The Lions will be in action on October 5 as the Lions travel to Fayetteville to compete in the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival.
