MSSU volleyball to play at Central Oklahoma

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern volleyball team will get back on the road as they head to Central Oklahoma tomorrow night to take on the Bronchos inside Hamilton Field House. First serve is slated for 7 pm.

The Lions are 8-6 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. Southern went 1-2 last week with a win at home over College of the Ozarks, but tough losses to nationally-ranked Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri.

This year, the Lions lead the MIAA in blocks, attacks, digs and assists, while ranking second in kills and third in attacks per set and digs per set. Individually, Morgan Nash leads the MIAA and is second nationally in triple doubles with three on the season, while Janelle Brehm ranks seventh nationally in total attacks and 31st in attacks per set. Alicia Pickett is 44th nationally and leads the MIAA in total blocks, while ranking third in the MIAA in blocks per set.

Central Oklahoma is 10-4 and 2-2 in MIAA play. The Bronchos split a pair of MIAA matches this past weekend, winning in four sets at Fort Hays State, but dropping a straight-set match at nationally-ranked Nebraska-Kearney.

UCO spreads the offense out with five different players averaging 2.00 kills per set or more. Lauren Jenkins and Amanda Desch both average 2.53 kills per set, while Dricka Scholl hits a team-high .317. Dssch and Sholl split time at setter, with Desch leading the way at 5.58 assists per set. Dominique Lipari averages 6.71 digs per set, while Regan Inglis has a time high 0.91 blocks per set.

After this match, the Lions will head to Missouri Western on Saturday for a 3 pm matchup with the Griffons.
