MSSU volleyball splits pair during final day of Dallas tournament

Dallas, Texas -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team split a pair of matches in the final day of the DBU Patriot Classic today, defeating Midwestern State in five sets, but falling to Henderson State in three.

The first match saw the Lions (6-3) get a triple-double from Morgan Nash as Southern took out Midwestern State (2-4) in five. Individual set scores were 25-27, 25-19, 25-23, 14-25 and 15-13.

Nash led the way with 12 kills, 28 assists and 10 digs for her second triple-double of the season. Alyssa Diaz had 19 kills, while Janelle Brehm had 24 digs. Brooklynn McCAin added 16 digs, and Shaylon Sharp had 12, while Makenzie Fa'amausili-Cacoulidis had 10 digs and 14 assists.








MSU (2-4) had two players with double-figures for kills, led by Sarah Eakin with 14.

In the second match of the day, the Lions fell in three sets to Henderson State (3-4). Individual set scores were 11-25, 15-25, and 21-25.

Brehm had eight kills and 12 digs, while Nash had 12 assists and 11 digs. McCain added 14 digs.

The Lions will be back in action on Tuesday night when Southern starts up MIAA play at Pittsburg State. First-serve is slated for 6 pm.
