MSSU golf places 13th at NSU Fall Classic

Tahlequah, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team finished 13th overall as the Lions competed in a season-opening event at Northeastern State, as NSU hosted its Fall Classic on Muskogee Golf Club.

Colby Cox had another under-par round, this time two under in the final 18 holes as he finished two-under par for the tournament and tied for 15th at 211. Logan Greer continued his rebound as he shot a one-over par 72 in the final round to tie for 52nd with teammate Fletcher McSpadden at nine-over 222. McSpadden shot a final-round 78.

Jonathan Sanchez shot a final-round 79 and finished at 227, while Taylor Haltom shot a 234.








The Lions shot 879 as a team, posting three sub-300 scores at the tournament. Central Missouri finished 15-under as a team and the Mules were two strokes in front of Arkansas Tech for the team title. Washburn was third, followed by Northeastern State and Southwestern Oklahoma to round out the top five.

Southern Arkansas was sixth, followed by Harding, Rogers State, Henderson State, Southern Nazarene, Minnesota State, Missouri Western, Southern, Oklahoma Baptist, Southeastern Oklahoma, Arkansas-Monticello, Newman and Seminole State to round out the team scores.

The Lions will be back in action next week as Southern plays host to the MSSU Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday from Shangri-La Country Club in Monkey Island, Okla.
