MSSU volleyball falls to Central Missouri

Morgan Nash and Shaylon Sharp both had double-figure kills, while Makenzie Fa'amausili-Cacoulidis dished out 33 assists, as the Lions fell three sets to none at home to No. 14 ranked Central Missouri. Individual set scores were 19-25, 22-25 and 16-25.

Southern (8-5, 1-2 MIAA) was led offensively by Nash who had 12 kills and nine digs. Sharp had 10 kills and six digs, while hitting .280 for the match. Janelle Brehm had nine kills, while Emalee Lowe had 14 digs. Fa'amausili-Cacoulidis had 33 assists and seven digs.

Central (7-4, 2-1 MIAA) had two with double-figure kills, as well, led by 19 from Sydney Lierz.








Set one saw the Lions push late and get within two (17-15), before Central scored four of the next five points to go up 21-16. Southern got three points off of the Jennies on set point, but Central put it away at 25-19.

Set two saw Central go up 19-12 and forced a Lions' timeout, but Southern came back and scored seven of the next 11 points to get within four (23-19). The Lions cut it to two (24-22), before the Jennies got a kill from Lierz.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as Southern plays host to No. 11 ranked Northwest Missouri. First-serve is slated for 1 pm from Young Gymnasium.
