MSSU volleyball sweeps College of the Ozarks

The Missouri Southern volleyball team picked up a sweep at home tonight as the Lions took out visiting College of the Ozarks in straight sets at Young Gymnasium. Individual set scores were 26-24, 25-18 and 25-16.

The Lions (8-4) had two players with double-figure kills as Morgan Nash had 15 and Shaylon Sharp had 11. Nash hit .353 and Sharp hit .346. Alyssa Diaz had six kills and three blocks, while hitting .400. Makenzie Fa'amausili Cacoulidis had four kills, 39 assists and nine digs, while hitting a perfect 1.000. CC Pollard had a match-high 18 digs, while Janelle Brehm had seven kills and nine digs.










C of O (12-8) was led by Rielly Wallace with eight kills, 17 assists and eight digs, while she hit .667.

Set one saw two tied scores and one lead change as the Lions led from 2-1 on. The Bobcats tied it at 24 late, but the Lions scored the final two points on a kill from Pickett and a C of O error. Set two saw the Bobcats get out on top early, leading 7-4, before the Lions scored six-of-the-next seven points to lead 10-8. Southern pushed the run to 13-6 and led 17-13 to force a C of O timeout. The Lions closed out the set on an 8-4 run.

Set three was all Lions. The set was tied at four and five, before the Lions went on an 8-1 run to lead 13-6 and force a Bobcats timeout. The Lions closed out the match with a kill from Nash.

Southern hit .301 as a team in the match.

The Lions will be back in action this Friday as Southern plays host to 14th-ranked Central Missouri. First serve from Young Gymnasium is slated for 6 pm.
