Parkview High School head football coach Ben Dougherty and Parkview senior Blake Delacruz were both recognized at the 2018 Quarterback Club Awards on Monday, Oct. 29.

Coach Dougherty received the Wayne Reed Memorial Coach of the Year award, which recognizes an outstanding football coach in the Springfield area. Dougherty was hired as head coach for the Parkview football team earlier this year.

"I love these kids," said Dougherty. "I've got their back and they've got mine. This is a team award, as far as I'm concerned."

A member of Dougherty's football team was also recognized. Senior running back Blake Delacruz received the Bill Wainwright Senior All-City MVP award for an outstanding season. "He's a fantastic kid and works hard, not just on the field but also in the classroom," said Dougherty. "He's leaving a legacy at Parkview, and I couldn't be prouder of him."
