MSSU women's basketball falls to Oklahoma Baptist

Shawnee, Okla. - The Missouri Southern women's basketball team took the lead (48-47) with 8:51 left in regulation, but was not enough as the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison closed out on a 26-15 run for a 73-63 victory inside the Noble Complex Friday evening.

The Lions (0-1) jumped out to a three-point lead after one quarter of play (15-12) after converted on three of their final four shots. OBU (1-0) responded by going on 12-0 run to go up by eight and eventually lead to an 11-point advantage heading into halftime (36-25).



The Lions would battle back in the third to make it a six-point deficit to begin the final period and retake the lead by one until the Lady Bison thought back for the victory.

Sophomore Krista Clark recorded 13 points to lead all Lions. Freshman guard Layne Skiles added ten points on 3 of 5 shooting and guard Destiny Cozart recorded eight points in their debuts wearing the green and gold.

Forward Zoe Campbell registered eight points as part of a bench that outscored the Bison's', 31-19. Campbell also grabbed team-high six rebounds

Southern looks to rebound against No. 20 Southwestern Oklahoma State to conclude the GAC/MIAA challenge tomorrow at 4:00 pm.
