MSSU volleyball signs 6-1 middle blocker from Pratt, Kansas

Missouri Southern volleyball coach Kalie Mader has announced the signing of Kierson Maydew to a National Letter of Intent to attend Southern and participated in volleyball beginning in the fall of 2019.

Maydew is the younger sister of former Lion women's basketball and track and field student-athlete Jenson Maydew.

Maydew, a native of Pratt, Kan., is a 6-1 middle blocker that prepped at Pratt HS for coach Summer Younie. A four-year varsity letter winner, Maydew also was a four-year letter winner in basketball and track and field at Pratt.

As a member of the volleyball team, Maydew led the team in kills and blocks as a junior and senior, while leading the team in aces as a junior. A two-time All-Conference selection, Maydew led her league in hitting as a senior. She heled her team to a Sub State Championship as a freshman, while picking up runner-up status as a sophomore and a junior. As a senior, Maydew heped the team to a Conference Title.



Maydew played for the Lawrence Landsharks in club ball where she helped the team to the National Tournament as a freshman and a sophomore. She moved to the ICT Mavs as a junior and senior.

On the basketball court, Maydew helped the Greenbacks to a Sub State runner up finish as a junior and helped the track and field team to a Conference Title as a sophomore.

"We are so excited to have Kierson join our Lion family," said Mader. "She is a dedicated competitor, an excellent learner and will be an essential attribute to our team and future."
