MSSU women's cross country finishes third at MIAA Championships

The Missouri Southern women's cross country team placed third today as the Lions competed in the 2019 MIAA Cross Country Championships hosted by the Lions at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.
Southern scored 91 points, finishing third behind Pittsburg State (78) and Central Missouri (84). Nebraska-Kearney was fourth, followed by Washburn, Fort Hays State, Missouri Western, Emporia State, Lincoln, Central Oklahoma, Northwest Missouri, Newman and Rogers State to round out the team scores.







Kelie Henderson led the way for the Lions as she finished sixth in a time of 22:07.0. Julianna Determan was eighth at 22:14.3, while Maegen Derfelt, Janna Hautala, and Danielle Prince finished 23rd, 25th and 29th, respectively.

Mady Gepford was 34th, while Alice Evans finished 35th and Raye Moran was 37th. Gabrielle Hill finished 42nd and Abbi Rogers was 78th.

The Lions will be back in action in two weeks when the Lions play host to the 2019 NCAA Central Region Championships on November 9 at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.
