MSSU soccer to play Central Oklahoma, Newman University this weekend

The Missouri Southern women's soccer squad prepares for a showdown against No. 24 Central Oklahoma Friday at 6:00 pm and a meeting with new MIAA member Newman University on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

The Lions (2-8-0, 1-2-0 MIAA) are coming off a 2-1 loss to Northeastern State where freshman Ashton Manwill recorded her third goal of the season to tie the match up at 1-1. She matches Bailey Belcher for most goals on the squad with three. Thus far, MSSU's goalkeepers lead the MIAA in saves with 72 through the first ten matches of the season.

Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ... won both the MIAA regular-season and tournament championships (22-2-0 overall /10-1-0 MIAA) to snap the Central Missouri Jennies streak of eight consecutive regular-season titles and four tournament titles by defeating them 6-1 in the finals ... picked to win with seven first-place votes in the conference preseason poll ... retained six All-MIAA selections from last season in senior forward Asha Haile (1st), senior defender Kelsey Gordon (1st), junior midfielders Kelsie Eason (1st) and Camille Greer, and sophomore goalkeeper Kelsi Gibson (1st) and sophomore defender Taryn Kedzior (1st) ... Series: Tied at 1-1-1
