St. Joseph, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team finished in 14th place Tuesday as the Lions competed at the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Missouri Western at St. Joseph Country Club.
The event was the second and final MIAA points event of the fall season. Southern finished as the seventh-highest MIAA squad at the event.
Logan Greer shot a final-round 75 to finish tied for 29th at 222 for the tournament. Colby Cox finished tied for 60th at 231, while Jonathan Sanchez was tied for 66th at 233. Jon Lenz shot a 236 and finished tied for 73rd, while Taylor Haltom shot a 238 and finished tied for 82nd.
Central Missouri won the event, finishing five strokes in front of Washburn. Central Oklahoma was third, followed by Winona State, Southwestern Oklhahoma, Southern Arkansas, Sioux Falls, Northeastern State, Rogers State, Minnesota State, Missouri Western, Bemidji State, Upper Iowa, Southern, Concordia-St. Paul, Lincoln, Newman, Augustana, Minnesota-Crookston and Fort Hays State to round out the team scores.
Southern will play its final fall tournament of the season on October 21 and 22 as the Lions travel to Hot Springs, Ark. for the Henderson State Battle for the Belt at Hot Springs Country Club.
