MSSU volleyball loses to Central Oklahoma in five sets

Edmond, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern Volleyball team had four players with double-doubles but the Lions couldn't complete the comeback, falling three sets to two at Central Oklahoma tonight inside Hamilton Field House. Individual set scores were 18-25, 23-25, 28-26, 25-19 and 11-15.

Southern (8-7, 1-4 MIAA) was led by Morgan Nash as she amassed 26 kills and 19 digs to go with four blocks on the night. Makenzie Fa'amausili-Cacoulidis had a career-high 57 assists and 16 digs, while Janelle Brehm had a double-double with 16 kills and 20 digs.








Shaylon Sharp posted her own double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs, while Alyssa Diaz had nine kills. Brooklynn McCain posted 31 digs on the night.

UCO (11-4, 3-1 MIAA) was led by Amanda Desch with 11 kills, 25 assists and 26 digs.

The Lions fell down two sets to none after dropping the first two frames, but stormed right back. Southern took set three in extra points 28-26, while posting a solid 25-19 in set four. The Lions couldn't pull off the comeback, however, as UCO took the final set and the match.

Southern will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Missouri Western for a 3 pm first-serve.
