The No. 21 ranked Missouri Southern baseball team swept the MIAA weekly awards as Freddie Landers and Zach Parish were named Player and Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today.
It is the third time the pair have won weekly honors this year. The pair also both swept the award together on March 19.
Landers, a senior from Grayslake, Ill., helped the Lions to a 3-1 week, including a sweep of Northeastern State at home. On the week, Landers hit .571 with an on-base percentage of .647 and a slugging percentage of .929. He had five doubles, including three in one game against NSU, four runs, eight hits and five RBIs. He added two walks, a hit by pitch and a stolen base. His final game against NSU, Landers went 5-for-5 with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Zach Parish went up against his former team as he shut down Northeastern State in a 1-0 win for the Lions. Parish went eight innings, striking out 16 batters and allowing just three walks. Parish helped the Lions set the MSSU single-season strikeout record in the game and has 113 strikeouts on the season to lead the MIAA and is just three from tying the individual MSSU single-season record.
Parish shares the weekly award with Central Oklahoma's Dylan Hall.
The Lions are in action tonight at Drury, taking on the Panthers at USA Baseball Stadium.
