MSSU track, field athletes to compete in multiple meets this weekend

The Missouri Southern track and field programs will have athletes at multiple meets this weekend as the distance runners head to Southwest Baptist and the rest of the team heads to Angelo State.

The distance runners will be competing in the sixth-annual Bearcat Invitational at SBU Track on the campus of Southwest Baptist University. Events will start 11:30 am on Saturday morning with the 3k steeplechase.

The rest of the team will be competing at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas at the David Noble/Angelo State Relays. The meets starts today with the women's heptathlon and men's decathlon. The Lions will send both Claire Luallen and Miracle Grant to compete in the heptathlon while the rest of the team will start competition on Saturday afternoon. Events on Saturday start at 12:30 pm.








The event features multiple nationally ranked programs including the fifth-ranked Lions' women. On the women's side, the Lions are joined by #4 Angelo State, #10 Pittsburg State, #22 Texas A&M-Commerce, #32 Texas A&M-Kingsville, Central Oklahoma, Tarleton State, UT Permian Basin, and McMurry.

The Angelo State men are the top-ranked program in Division II and are joined by #7 Texas A&M-Commerce, #14 Pittsburg State, #16 Texas A&M-Kingsville, #30 Missouri Southern State, Central Oklahoma, Tarleton State, UT Permian Basin, McMurry, and Trinity.
