Pittsburg, Kan. -- The 12th-ranked Missouri Southern men's track and field team picked up nine top-three finishes and three event wins as the Lions competed at the 11th-annual David Suenram Gorillas Classic at Pittsburg State today.
Jon Johnson (400m), Josh Norville (long jump), and Rajindra Campbell (discus) all won events for the Lions today.
Jonhson picked up a win in the 400m, finishing in a time of 49.06. Norville hit an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 24-04.25 in the long jump to win the event, while Brendan Watkins was fourth and Adrain Broadus was sixth. Campbell hit a provisional mark in the discus with a distance of 183-04, while Josh Fulmer was seventh.
Douglas Depagneux was 11th in the 200m, while Broadus was 21st and Blake Gillihan was 16th in the 800m. Ivan Colbert was 11th in the 400m hurdles. Andrew Wells was third in the high jump with a height of 6-07.50, while DeShaun Williams placed seventh.
Dean Howard was third in the pole vault with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 16-01.25. Kennan Harrison was second in the triple jump at a distance of 48-00.75, while Watkins was third in a distance of 45-10.50. Broadus placed 12th.
Campbell was fourth in the shot put in a provisional distance of 54-11.25, while Fulmer and Elijah Smith placed 12th and 19th, respectively. Travis Petersen was third in the hammer with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 199-00, while Fulmer was fifth and Trace Hennault was 19th. Rajheim Carby was second in the javelin with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 199-05.
Southern will be back in action next week, splitting action at Central Missouri, as well as the Kansas Relays and the Mt. Sac Relays.
