The Missouri Southern women's track and field team has vaulted to No. 3 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Ratings Index, released today.
It is the highest-ever ranking for the Lions as the team moved from No. 5 to No. 3 this week. Southern has ten individuals ranked in the top ten in their events, including six in the top-five.
Elizabeth Pomatto is the top ranked athlete in the Javelin, while Desirea Buerge ranks second in both the shot put and discus. Emily Presley ranks second in the pole vault. All three individuals have automatically qualified for this year's National Meet.
Southern is the top-ranked team from the MIAA this week, joining Lincoln (4), Pittsburg State (7) and Lindenwood (20), as teams from the MIAA in the top-25.
The Lions will be back in action this week as Southern travels to Pittsburg State.
