MSSU women's golf ninth after first day of Hardscrabble Invite

Fort Smith, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern women's golf team is in ninth and Kylie Carnes is tied for 24th as the Lions competed in the 2019 Hardscrabble Invite, hosted by Arkansas-Fort Smith at Hardscrabble Country Club today.

Carnes shot a round one 83 but came back and fired a 77 in round two to finish the day at 160 and tied for 24th. Maggie Moore shot six strokes better in round two to finish tied for 37th at 172, while Elizabeth Poe was 44th at 198. Taylor Boyett was 45th at 223.








The Lions shot a 753 as a team, improving three strokes in round two from round one. Texas A&M Commerce is in first, 20 strokes in front of second-place Arkansas-Fort Smith. Rogers State is third, followed by Western Texas, Nebraska-Kearney, Texas A&M Kingsville, Northwestern Oklahoma, Texas A&M International and the Lions to round out the team scores.

The Lions will shoot a final 18 holes tomorrow morning to complete the tournament.
