MSSU's Kimutai wins 3K, takes third in 1,500 meters

The Missouri Southern men's track and field teams saw action in multiple locations today as the Lions were at both Southwest Baptist and Angelo State.

Distance runners went to SBU for the Lions as the rest of the team was at Angelo State.

At SBU, Gidieon Kimutai won the 3k and was third in the 1,500m. He started the races off with a third-place finish in the 1,500m, hitting a time of 3:58.17. Josh Webb was sixth in the race, while Cody. Berry placed 22nd and Nathan Painter was 24th.

Kimutai then won the 3k in a time of 8:35.06, while Berry was third, Webb was fourth, Michael Shanahan was ninth, and Ryan Drendel was 13th. Nickson Kiptoo won the 3k steeple with a time of 9:38.22, while Tadd Capron was third and Jared Ozee placed fourth.








At Angelo State, Andrew Wells was second in the high jump hitting 2.00m, while DeShaun Williams placed seventh. Dean Howard was fifth in the pole vault hitting a mark of 4.70m, while Josh Norville won the long jump in an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 7.44m. Adrain Broadus was third in the long jump, while Brendan Watkins placed fifth.

Broadus placed second in the triple jump, while Kenan Harrison was third, both hitting NCAA Provisional Qualifying marks in the process. Watkins placed 8th in the triple jump.

Rajindra Campbell was second in the shot put with an NCAA Provisional mark of 18.35m, while Josh Fulmer placed 13th. Campbell followed that up with another provisional, this time with a fourth-place throw in the discus, hitting a mark of 54.61m. Fulmer was tenth in the discus, while Elijah Smith placed 21st in the event. Fulmer was fourth in the hammer with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 58.21m, while Rajheim Carby placed third in the javelin with another provisional mark of 63.41m.

Southern will be back in action next weekend as the Lions travel to Pittsburg State.
