MSSU's Forchu named Academic All-District

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Missouri Southern junior fullback Giresse Forchu has been named first-team Capital One Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today.

Forchu carries a 3.86 in biology/pre-med at Missouri Southern. To be considered for the honor, a player must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, while participating in at least 50 percent of his team's games. Freshman and first-year transfers are not eligible. Forchu was competing with players from Schools in the Division II Super Region Three (Great American Conference, MIAA, Northern Sun and Great Northwest).

Forchu, a native of Forney, Texas, has helped the Lions re-write the rushing records at Missouri Southern the past two seasons. The team has broke the record in both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, rushing for 3043 yards in 2012 and 3,684 yards in 2013.

This year, Forchu leads the MIAA and ranks 18th in Division II in rushing TD's with 12. That total ranks 6th all-time in a single-season at MSSU. His 18 career rushing TD's rank him 8th all-time. A 2013 CoSIDA first-team Academic All-District selection, Forchu has been a two-time Academic All-MIAA, three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a three-time Dean's List member.

Forchu will now advance to the national ballot where he will be up for the Academic All-American vote.
