MSSU volleyball falls to Central Missouri

The Missouri Southern volleyball team fell three sets to none tonight at 19th ranked Central Missouri. Individual set scores were 17-25, 14-25 and 22-25.

The Lions (6-21, 3-16 MIAA) were led offensively by Katie Politte (pictured) as she collected eight kills and 14 digs, to go along with three blocks. Abby Finder dished out 21 assists and added 14 digs, while Callie Whetstone had seven blocks and five kills.

Central (19-8, 16-3 MIAA) had two in double-figures for kills, led by 14 from Carly Sojka.

The Jennies took sets one and two easily, with only one tied score and no lead changes.

Southern, wouldn't go away easily as the Lions took a 9-8 lead ona kill from Whetstone and led 11-8 after a kill from Krishna Merriman. The Lions led 20-17, but Central tied the match at 20 and led 22-21, before a kill from Wetstone tied the set at 22. Three-straight poitns from the Jennies gave the match to UCM.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow as Southern travels to Lindenwood for a 7 pm match.
