(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

MSSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Ronda Hubbard announced another local signing today as Desirea Buerge signed to play for the Lions in 2015-16.

Buerge, a Webb City standout, was a three sport star for the Cardinals lettering in basetkball, softball, and track. In basketball, she earned first team All-District and second team All-COC during her sophomore season at WCHS and earned first team honors for both during her junior campaign while helping WCHS to a second place finish in MSHSAA Class 4 during her sophomore season.

"Desirae is without question one of the mosted gifted multi-sport athletes in all of Missouri. She plays the game the way we play the game at MSSU, which is hard," said Hubbard. "While she already has great post up skills, she will prove to be one of the most versatile players in the league with her shooting range and ability to score in multiple ways."

In Track & Field Buerge set the WCHS record in discus with a throw of 153'8 and in the shot put with a throw of 44'4". Buerge earned All-State in both shot and discus her junior year, winning the MSHSAA Class 4 title in discus, and All-State in discus her sophomore season. She will join Coach Patty Vavra and the Lions Track & Field team for the outdoor season as well.

On the softball diamond Buerge led the Cardinals to a second place state finish her junior season while earning first team All-COC, All-District, and All-State honors at shortstop.

Desirea is the daughter of Robert and Tana Buerge and has three siblings. She plans to major in nursing or biology at Southern.

"We are thrilled to have her join our Lion Family and knew she was the perfect fit for our program," added Hubbard.
