(From Missouri Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern men's and women's cross country programs will head to Bolivar tomorrow to compete in the 2014 MIAA Cross Country Championships held at Bolivar Municipal Golf Course and hosted by Southwest Baptist University.

Both teams are having stellar seasons and are ranked both nationally and regionally. The Lions men are ranked third in the Central Region and are ranked 16th nationally. Senior Eric Schott has been one of the top runners in all of Division II this season, having yet to be defeated by a Division II competitor. He took home the title at the Southern Stampede as the overall champion, and was the top non-Division I runner at the Chili Pepper Invite. He also won individual titles at Southwest Baptist and Missouri S&T.

The men scored 19 points at the meet at SBU, being run on the very same course they will run tomorrow. The Lions had all five scoring runners place in the top seven of the race, facing competition from three other MIAA schools. At Missouri S&T, the men again dominated, scoring 20 points this time, with all five scoring runners placing in the top nine against competition from both the MIAA and the GLVC.

The Southern women are ranked 12th nationally and are ranked third in the Central Region. The Lions are on a three-meet winning streak taking home the title at the Chili Pepper Invite, as well as the meet at SBU, and Missouri S&T. The women are deep and have had a different person finish as their top runner in each of the three wins they have had. Emily Harris was the top runner for the women in each of the first two meets, while Dora Eastin won at SBU and Kaitlyn Belisle finished second at Missouri S&T.

In the women's meet win at SBU, the Lions finished with 30 points, having all five scoring runners place in the top 11. At Missouri S&T, the women scored 26 points having all five scorers finish in the top ten.

The Lions' men were a unanimous preseason pick to win the MIAA, while the women were picked third. Both teams are the highest-ranked MIAA teams in their respective regions.

The men's 8k race begins at 10 am with the women's 6k kicking off at 11 am.
