MSSU women's track adds distance runner

Missouri Southern women's track and field coach Patty Vavra has announced the addition of Sarah Usher to her recruiting class for 2015.

Usher, a 5-8 distance runner from Steelville, Mo., was a four-year varsity letter winner for coach Matt Hammonds. As a freshman, Usher was an All-Conference runner, winning her league title, while also being named All-District. As a sophomore, Usher won her conference meet, while placing second in the district races. She was an All-State selection, placing 19th at the state meet.

As a junior, Usher won both conference and district titles, while placing third at the state meet, again earning All-State honors. This past year as a senior, Usher again was an All-State selection, placing 11th in the state meet.

On the track, Usher was a three-time All-Conference pick, while being named All-District and All-Sectional twice. She holds her school's record in the cross country 5k (19:35).

A stellar student as welll, Usher carries a perfect 4.00 GPA and ranks seventh in her class, while being a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council.

The daughter of Jeff and Jeanne Usher, Sarah plans to major in health promotion and wellness at Southern.
