The Missouri Southern Men's Cross Country team took the top three places and five out of the top 10 en route to the 2014 MIAA Team Championship.
Southern was once again paced by senior Eric Schott, who has yet to lose a race to a NCAA D2 runner, as he finished with a time of 24:41.52. Sophomore Tyler Rush finished just six seconds behind Schott and senior Andrew Webester took third 10 seconds behind Rush. Senior Colton Woolridge finished in seventh with fellow senior Adrian Todd coming in ninth.
Senior Alex Mason was 26th with a time of 26:05.03 with junior Nathan Henry finishing in 36th at 26:30.48. Freshman Ben Southwick came in 41st, four seconds ahead of sophomore Drake Smelser, and sophomoreJacob Coffman finished three spots back in 45th.
The Lions scored 22 points to win the team title, with Neb.-Kearney coming in second with 55 points and Pittsburg State finishes in third with 94 points.
With the Women's Cross Country win its the third time since 2007 that both Lions squads have swept the MIAA Cross Country Championships. The sweep puts Southern up 2-1 in the 2014-15 State Farm Trophy Series.
The Lions will now prepare for the NCAA D2 Central Region Meet to be held on Nov. 22 and hosted by Wayne State in Wayne, Neb.
