Missouri Southern senior Katie Politte and junior Callie Whetstone have both been named All-MIAA as the league office announced the release of the postseason awards today.
Both student-athletes were second-team selections.
For Politte it is her third-straight All-MIAA nod as she has been an honorable mention pick the past two seasons. This year, Politte finished her career with 1,160 kills which rank 8th all-time in MSSU history. Her 4,013 total attacks ranks third best and she is just one of three individuals to ever record more than 4,000 attacks in a career. Her 1,317 attacks this season ranks third-best in a single season at MSSU.
Whestone finished the season with 150 block assists, breaking the MSSU single season record which had stood at 115. Her 171 total blocks this year ranks third best and she currently is second in Division II, while her 1.50 blocks per set, leads the country. Her 298 career total blocks rank 8th in MSSU history, while her 256 block assists rank third-best.
Central Oklahoma's Barbara Jackson was the MIAA Player of the Year, while LaRose Currie from Nebraska-Kearney was the Freshman of the Year. UCO's Edgar Miraku was the league's Coach of the Year.
