Three sign for MSSU women's track

Missouri Southern women's track and field coach Patty Vavra has announced the addition of three individuals to participate in track and field beginning in 2015-16.

Emily Presley, Michelle Barnart, and Sara Lin will all join the Lions.

Presley from St. Clair, Mo. has signed a National Letter of Intent to pole vault for the Lions next year. A three sport star for the Bulldogs of St. Clair High School is a three time All-Conference, All-District, and All-Sectional selection and a two time All-State performer. During her freshman season she finished tied for tenth at the MSHSAA Class 3 state championships with a vault of 9'6. During her sophomore season she finished second at the MSHSAA championships with a vault of 11'. Last season en route to the 2014 Class 3 championship she set the Class 3 record with a vault of 12'6.

Emily is the daughter of Eddie Presley and Christine Consalino and plans to major in kinesiology at Southern.

A native of Meta, Mo., Barnhart was a two sport star at Fatima High School earning All-State honors in both softball and track. She is a two time MSHSAA Class 2 state qualifier in track during her sophomore and junior seasons. Michelle earned All-State honors her sophomore campaign in the 4x800 relay and repeated that All-State honor during her junior season while adding All-State honors in the 4x200, 4x100, and the 800 m. She was also a part of the 4x100 relay team that set the Comets school record.

Barnhart has been a part of three district, three sectional, one quarterfinal team championship in both softball and track, and was part of the MSHSAA Class 2 2014 softball state champions. During the state championship game she went 1-for-4 at the plate while scoring two runs in the 16-3 win over Pleasant Hope. On the diamond, Michelle was a three time All-District, All-Conference, and All-Region selection while earning All-State honors this past fall.

She is the daughter of Bill Barnhart and Marlene Huhn and plans to major in kinesiology at Southern.

Linn is a native of Gallatin, Mo., where she participated in track and field, softball and basketball, lettering all four years in each sport.

A four-time state qualifier, Linn owns the school records in the 4x800m relay, the 400m, the 800m, the 4x400m relay and the 4x200m relay. She also holds the school record for the highest batting average in a single-season (.507) while a member of the softball team and helped her basketball team to the state playoffs as a senior.

In track and field, Linn took home the state title as a freshman in the 4x800m relay, while placing third in the 800m. She was All-State in the 4x800m relay, the 800m, and the 4x400m relay, while helping the team to a conference champion as a sophomore. As a junior, Linn was All-State again in the 4x400m, 4x800m and the 800m, while winning another conference title.

A four-time All-Conference, All-District and Academic All-Conference selection in softball, she was an All-State pick as a senior, and helped her team to back-to-back conference championships as a junior and senior. Linn was also a three-time All-Conference pick, as well as being named All-State as a junior. She is about to begin her senior season.

The daughter of Rick and Lesli Linn, Sara plans to major in sports management at Southern. Her father Rick played college basketball at Graceland University, while her mother ran cross country and track and field at Central Missouri.
