Watkins wins long jump as MSSU men's track competes at Lion Open and Multis

The Missouri Southern men's track and field team competed today as the Lions hosted the MSSU Lion Open and Multis on Mercy Track inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

Travis Petersen and Josh Fulmer both picked up NCAA Provisional Qualifying marks in the weight throw as Petersen finished fourth with a distance of 62-00.25 and Fulmer was sixth with a distance of 58-05.25. Elijah Smith was 14th, while Trace Henault placed 22nd.

Brendan Watkins won the long jump in an NCAA provisional distance of 23-09.50, while Adrain Broadus was seventh in a distance of 22-00.75.





Ivan Colbert qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.61, while placing 11th in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 23.66.

DeShaun Williams just missed out on qualifying in the 60m dash, placing 9th, while Rajheim Carby was 25th.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow with events starting at 9 am.
