Missouri Southern mourns death of soccer player/psychology major Denine Tahbaz

The Missouri Southern State University Athletic Department is saddened by the passing of current Lions' soccer player Denine Tahbaz, who passed away today (Feb. 27) after complications from a tumor.

Tahbaz, 22, was a native of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and spent three years on the soccer team at Missouri Southern after transferring from Golden West (Calif.) College. This year, she played in 15 matches with three starts, recording four shots. In her career, she saw action in 32 matches with eight starts.

Tahbaz is the daughter of Michael and Liz Tahbaz and has two younger brothers. She was a geography major at Southern.







Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later time.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Denine's family," said Director of Athletics Jared Bruggeman. "We ask everyone to be thinking of her family, friends and the soccer program during this difficult time.
