6-5 Illinois guard signs letter of intent to play for MSSU men's basketball

Missouri Southern men's basketball coachJeff Boschee has announced the signing of Martin Macenis to a National Letter of Intent to play basketball and attend Southern beginning in the fall of 2019.

Macenis is a 6-5 combo guard from Hickory Hills, Ill. that prepped at Stagg High School for coach Marty Strus. He also lettered in both football and volleyball at Stagg.

This season, Macenis is averaging 13.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field and he was the MVP of the John McBride Thanksgiving Classic.







As a junior, Macenis averaged 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

The son of Saulius Macenis and Jolanta Juozapaityte, Martin plans to major in business at Missouri Southern.

"We are excited to add Martin to our 2019 recruiting class," Boschee said. "He is a big guard who has a great all-around game. He has great ability to handle and pass the ball with his size. With those skill sets and his ability to shoot, he will fit in perfectly in our transition system."
