MSSU men's track in first place after second day of MIAA Championships

Maryville, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team lead the field after day two of the 2019 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Northwest Missouri State University.

The Lions picked up six NCAA Provisional Qualifying Marks and Gidieon Kimutai was an individual champion on the day. Kimutai won the 5k, while Douglas Depagneux (400m prelims), Adrain Broadus and Brendan Watkins (triple jump) and Josh Fulmer and Travis Petersen (weight throw) all earned Provisional Qualifying Marks. Josh Webb was All-MIAA in the 5k, as well.

Ivan Colbert qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles, while Depagneux qualified in the 400m dash.









The Lions lead the pack wiht 36 points, one point in front of Central Missouri and two in front of Northwest Missouri. Fort Hays State is fourth, followed by Pittsburg State, Lincoln, Washburn, Lindenwood, Southwest Baptist, Nebraska-Kearney, Emporia State and Missouri Western to round out the team scores.

Complete results are listed below. The Lions will be back in action tomorrow with field events beginning at 11:30 am and track events starting at 1 pm.
