Missouri Southern softball pitcher Abby Atkin has been named MIAA co-pitcher of the Week along with Lindenwood's Madison Corwell released Wednesday afternoon.
Atkin allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits while striking out ten batters in 8.1 innings pitched toward a 2-0 record in three appearances, including one start.
The Garden City, Missouri native got the lone start of the week in a 6-1 win over the Wayne State College where she limited the Wildcats to one run on five hits in 4.2 innings recorded.
Then in game one against Sioux Falls (S.D.) on Monday, the sophomore followed up with her first save of the season by striking out two batters out of four faced in the seventh to lockdown a 4-1 Lions victory before concluding the day with her second win in two days after throwing 2.2 inning of one-run ball on three hits and registering four strikeouts, including the final three USF batters of game two.
Missouri Southern softball is back in action on Friday, Mar. 1 for a pair of games inside the Pat Lipira Softball Complex beginning at noon against William Jewell followed by a 2:30 pm matchup with Rockhurst.
