MSSU men's and women's cross country teams recognized for academic excellence

The Missouri Southern men's and women's cross country programs both earned the team academic award, while five individuals picked up honors as well, as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its cross country academic awards today.

The Southern women posted a team GPA of 3.67, while the men carry a cumulative team GPA of 3.19 and both earned the team academic award.

Individually, Julianna Determan and Alice Evans for the women, as well as Jared Ozee, Kevin Koester and Michael Shanahan earned honors.







Requirements for the individual award state student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade points average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championship meet.

There were 649 student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors with the women accounting for 58.4 percent of the total (379).
