A new facility record in the distance medley relay and a school record in the pentathlon highlighted day one of the 2015 MSSU Lion Open tonight on Mercy Track, inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
The DMR team of Dana Roberson, Amber White, Kindra Emberton and Emily Harris demolished the facility record tonight in winning the event. The group ran a time of 11:54.08, six seconds faster than their seed time in earning a very solid provisional mark that after conversion, ranks in the top five nationally in the event.
White also won the 200m in a time of 25:31 that once converted for a banked track is a provisional mark. Melanie Bower had a provisional in the pole vault with a height of 11-08.50, while Victoria Foley had a provisional in the weight throw with a third place finish of 56-00.50.
Kaylee Morgan was third in the pentathlon finishing with a provisional total of 3374 points, which is a new school record, besting the previous mark held by Lisa Vengels by three points.
The team will finish up day two of the meet today inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
