The Missouri Southern men's and women's cross country programs had six individuals and both programs recognized for academics by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association the organization announced today.
To be nominated for the individual honor, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at his or her regional championship (total Division II teams in the region multiplied by seven runners per team) or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
Representing the men's team was Colton Wooldridge. Wooldridge has maintained a 3.586 cumulative GPA in education at Missouri Southern.
Representing the women's team is Kaitlyn Belisle (3.662 - Kinesiology), Sierra Gray (4.000 - Occupational Therapy), Emily Harris (3.714 - Communications), Addie Mengwasser (3.534 - Health Science), and Dana Roberson (3.655 - Kinesiology).
Both teams, as well, have earned the All-Academic Team honor as given out by the association. There were 128 women’s teams and 93 men’s teams that earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2013 season. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.00 or greater and scored at an NCAA Division II regional meet to qualify for the award.
The Southern women had a cumulative 3.46 GPA, while the men earned a 3.07 team GPA.
