MSSU to hold Lion Open track meet Friday and Saturday

The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field programs will play host to the MSSU Lion Open on Mercy Track inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center Friday and Saturday.

Action will begin on Friday at 9 am inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center with the men’s heptathlon and the women’s pentathlon. Field events begin at 1:30 on Friday with running events begin at 5 pm that night. Everything begins at 9 am on Saturday.

The Lions men are ranked 20th nationally going into the event. Jeff Fraley just recently improved his national standing in the 60m dash and currently ranks third in the event, while ranking second nationally in the 400m. Morgan Hold ranks 13th in the pole vault, while Darion Boure and Kennan Harrison rank 8th and 17th, respectively in the triple jump.

Emily Harris ranks fifth nationally in the mile after her performance at Kansas this past weekend. Harris was just a little over a second off the MSSU school record in the event and her time stands as the second-best ever in the indoor mile in MSSU history.

Brittani Reagan ranks 15th in the long jump, while Kaylee Morgan ranks 20th in the event. Amber White ranks 21st in the 400m going into the event, while Melanie Bower ranks 22nd in the pole vault.

Live results will be available on mssulions.com. The meet will also serve as part of the women's athletics Pride for Pink initiative that has been going on throughout the year. Women student-athletes will be taking donations and selling pink t-shirts during the event in MSSU's effort to raise money for breast cancer research.
