Birmingham, Ala. -- Both Bryan Burns and Vincent Kiprop earned All-American honors as the men's track and field team competed in the final day of the 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Lions, as a team, finished 13th overall with 19 points. Southern was the second-highest finishing MIAA team, trailing Lincoln by just three points.
Kiprop picked up his second All-American performance of the meet as he was the national runner-up in the 3k, breaking his own school record with a time of 7:57.49. He finished the meet with a national championship in the 5k and a second-place finish in the 3k.
Burns picked up his first All-American performance with an eighth-place finish in the shot put throwing a distance of 57-11.
In other action, Morgan Hold narrowly missed out on an All-American performance as he vaulted to a height of 16-02.75 and a ninth-place finish in the pole vault.
In total, the Lions got 19 points, 18 from Kiprop and one from Burns.
Southern will be right back at it as the Lions will open up the outdoor season with a meet at Emporia State on March 17.
