The Missouri Southern Lions Softball team ranked 30th in the NFCA D2 with a team GPA of 3.433.
As a team the Lions finsihed with a 3.433 GPA which ranked 30th out of the qualifying schools. Southern was also the third highest MIAA team as Washburn and Lindenwood finished third (3.646) and fourth (3.642) respectively. Earlier this month the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced that 5,493 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year. Of the 833 student-athletes in Division II eight Lions were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The eight Lions named to the list were freshmen Sydney Blue, Shelby Madden, and Abi Corbett, red-shirt freshmanMyranda Stewart, sophomore Lindsey Gorham, junior Alana Hester, seniors Kathryn Goins-Osburn and Brooke Swadley.
To earn the NFCA All-America Scholar-Athelte honor student-athletes had to have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Southern will open their 2016 season on February 5th as they travel to Durant, Oklahoma to take part in the Southeastern Oklahoma State Tournament.
