Southern softball players named All-America Scholar Athletes

Eight Missouri Southern Lions softball players have been named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes from the 2015 season.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced that 5,493 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year. Of the 833 student-athletes in Division II eight Lions were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The eight Lions named to the list were freshmen Sydney Blue, Shelby Madden, and Abi Corbett, red-shirt freshman Myranda Stewart, sophomore Lindsey Gorham, junior Alana Hester, seniors Kathryn Goins-Osburnand Brooke Swadley.

To earn the NFCA All-America Scholar-Athelte honor student-athletes had to have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Southern will open their 2016 season on February 5th as they travel to Durant, Oklahoma to take part in the Southeastern Oklahoma State Tournament.
