Kansas City Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball program had ten named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, while three earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors as the league announced it's post season academic awards today.
To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The MIAA Scholar Athlete Award is given to those who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms, and, if competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, earn All-MIAA honors.
Richie Gorski (3.67 - Kinesiology), Brett Graham (3.82 - Education) and Tyler Sutherland (3.71 - Marketing Management), all earned the Scholar-Athlete Award. Southern was one of two schools to put three players on the Scholar-Athlete list.
Others named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll include: Colin Chandler (3.29 - Health Science), Austyn Gooch (3.54 - Math), Sean Goostree (3.36 - Criminal Justice), Gorski, Graham, Craig Larkin (3.32 - Finance), Trenton Moeller (3.37 - Education), Cody Smith (3.32 - Communication), Garan Stevens (3.40 - Marketing Management and Sutherland.
The MIAA will announce the Academic Honor Roll for first-year and transfer players, as well as all Presidential Scholars later this month.
