Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior shortstop Richie Gorski has been named the MIAA Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Gorski had a stellar final regular-season weekend as the senior went 8-9 in his final nine at bats of the weekend en route to hitting .692 on the weekend with a 1.538 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage. Gorski started the week going 1-4 with a run scored on Friday. He followed that up with a 4-5 performance on Saturday that saw him homer twice, drive in five and score twice.
On Sunday, he concluded the weekend, going 4-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and tying an MSSU and MIAA single-game record with four doubles in one game.
Gorski and the Lions open up the 2017 MIAA Baseball Tournament on Thursday at 4 pm at home against Emporia State inside Warren Turner Field.
