Matt Hiatt has been named Joplin Schools’ Athletic Director beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. Matt has served as the Assistant Athletic Director in Joplin since 2013. Matt previously was a teacher and Activities Director at Northeast High School in Arma, Kansas.
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State University. Most recently Matt earned certification as a Certified Athletic Administrator through National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
Matt impressed the interview committee with his strong history of "doing the right thing." He is a man of integrity and committed to an athletic program of continuous improvement in areas both on and off the field of competition.
The Board of Education unanimously approved Matt as Joplin Schools’ Athletic Director during the May 9, 2017 closed session.
