The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field teams will open up the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday as the teams compete at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The Southern men come into the national meet ranked 8th nationally and have six athletes competing in seven events. The women have four athletes competing in four events.
Morgan Hold will start things off for the Lions as he competes in the pole vault at 2:30 pm (ET) on Thursday in the Lions' first event. Jordyn Manier will take part in the long jump at approximately 6:20 pm (ET) and Vincent Kiprop will end the night with the 10k that begins at 9:35 pm (ET).
Day two will see Desirea Buerge start things off for the Lions with the discus at 2 pm (ET), while Bryan Burns will compete in the discus at 5 pm (ET). Morgan Smith will compete in the prelims of the 100m hurdles to end the day starting at 6:40 pm (ET).
The final day will be busy for the Lions with Derek Webb and Daniel Hernandez starting things in the javelin with a 2:25 pm (ET) start, while Emily Presley will compete in the pole vault starting five minutes later. Allie Heckemeyer will compete in the triple jump at approximately 4:45 pm (ET), while Burns will compete in the shot put at 5:05 pm (ET). If Smith makes it to the finals in the hurdles, that event will begin at 5:55 pm (ET), while Kiprop will finish off the meet for the Lions with the 5k that is scheduled to start at 8:30 pm (ET).
