Thirty-four MSSU student athletes named to MIAA Indoor Track and Field Academic Honor Roll

A total of 34 Missouri Southern student-athletes were named to the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Academic Honor Roll, the league announced its academic honors list today.

In addition to those individuals, five were named an MIAA Scholar Athlete and another four earned the Academic Excellence Award. Of 34 that were honored, 11 came from the men's team and 23 from the women.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average (GPA) used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.








The men who earned the honor were Dean Howard, Jon Johnson, Gidieon Kimutai, Kevin Koester, Jordyn Manier, Jarod Ozee, Nathan Painter, JP Rutledge, Michael Shanahan, Jeremiah Wald and Brendan Watkins. The Women wo earned the honor were Elizabeth Adeoye, Jordan Banker, Elena Bisotto, Jasmine Deckard, Julianna Determan, Alice Evans, Kelsey Evans, Mady Gepford, Janna Hautala, Kelie Henderson, Gabrielle Hill, Ashlee Kuykendall, Kirsten Leisinger, Claire Luallen, Wynter Nekola, Kassidy Owens, Emily Presley, Danielle Prince, Alexandra Rodriguez, Ojurere Shonekan, Lauren Sutherland, Megan Tramel and Ashlynn Vanatter.

To be named to the Scholar-Athlete list, a student-athlete must meet the above requirements, as well as maintain a 3.5 GPA and be named All-MIAA during their respective events. The MIAA had 32 athletes earn this honor.

Koester was the lone male to earn Scholar-Athlete award and Adeoye, Bisotto, Deckard and Henderson were the women's honorees.

To earn the Academic Excellence Award, a student-athlete must maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA, as well as satisfy the two terms of attendance with 42 student-athletes in the MIAA achieving this plateau.

Rutlege, Banker, Alice Evans and Tramel, were Southern's award winners.
