MSSU men to open NCAA play Saturday

The 21st ranked Missouri Southern men's basketball team will open up the NCAA Tournament on Saturday evening as the Lions take on the 17th-ranked Wolves of Northern State. Tip off from Bearcat Arena in Maryville is slated for 8:30 pm.

The Series

These two teams have played only twice before and each game has occurred at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD.Northern State took the first game in 2014 by a score of 74-69 and then the Wolves won again in 2017 by a score of 81-68.

Southern In the NCAA Tournament

The Lions are 7-8 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with one trip to the Elite 8 in 1999-00. Southern has only played Southeastern Oklahoma and Northwest Missouri amongst this year's Central Region Participants in NCAA Tournament action with Southern holding a 1-1 record.

With a win, the Lions will take on the winner of the Northwest Missouri State and Oklahoma Baptist game at 7:30 pm on Sunday night.
