MSSU women's golf to open season at Natural State Classic

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern women's golf team will open up its spring season this week as the Lions will head to Arkansas to compete in the Natural State Classic hosted by Harding University at Cypress Creek GC in Cabot, Ark.

This will be the first of four events the Lions will participate in this spring before the MIAA Championships in April.

The Lions will be one of five teams competing at the event, joined by Harding, Maryville, Trevecca Nazarene and Hendrix.

Representing the Lions will be Maggie Moore, Kylie Carnes, Kenzie Kirkhart, McKayla Hussey and Hannah Torres.

"The ladies have been working hard since the return to school in January and are more than ready to test themselves in a competition," said head coach Mike Wheeler. "Cypress Creek is a new golf course for us and should prove to be a good test. Unfortunately, the weather forecast has a lot of rain in it at this time. We can only hope that it will clear a bit. It is a fairly small field with five teams, so a good opportunity for a top-three finish. That would be a great start to our spring."

The teams are scheduled to play 18 holes each day.
